EXTENDED DAY
What's Happening in Extended Day! Click here to learn about Extended Day Policies This year is going by so quickly! We thank you for your patience and suggestions as we have worked hard in building the Extended Day Program here at UPE to become the best it can be. Your suggestions have been mentioned in our staff meetings. Do not hesitate to write suggestions in the white notebook outside our office about improvements that can be made. We have been keeping all students busy during Extended Day. We have many students from The University of Central Florida come in throughout the week to help students with their homework. Making sure that your child gets an adequate amount of time and help on homework is our most important mission in Extended Day. Once homework is done, enrichment activities begin. The 4-H Club is coming in on Tuesdays and Thursdays to teach general lessons about fire safety, nutrition, water safety, and first aid. We have begun a listening program for the K-3 rd graders. On Wednesdays for 30-40 minutes, group leaders and assistants will lead students through planned games and challenges that will help your child build their listening, attending, and conversational listening skills. You can help by practicing good listening habits at home! All of the art and craft projects that your children are doing are literature based. Each craft or art project that your child brings home is based on literature that was read to the class by group leaders and assistants. Literature invites students to use their imaginations, expand their vocabularies, and gain a better understanding of themselves and others. When you pin out your child before getting them, please look at the door next to the time clock for info/and or updates on the schedule for that day. Most of the time, your child will be in the same place. However, due to open houses, parent conferences, boy scouts’ group meetings, etc, the room where your child might be that day could be different. Thanks for helping make UPE Extended Day the place for your after school care needs! |
