Genice Shaw is a former concert pianist, composer and arranger. She also has a strong background in science, having spent 20 years in the field of pharmacy assisting, research and management. She decided to leave the pharmacy field and set her sights on elementary education but still keeping her license current.
Genice Shaw is known throughout the school as Ms. Gee. While working on her education degree, she works as an exceptional education paraprofessional. She works with 3rd and 5th grade students as a reading coach helping them improve their reading skills. Ms. Gee works with Kindergarten and 1st grade with math.
Twice a week, after school, she demonstrates her musical talents by serving as piano accompanist and an assistant director for the school chorus and instrumental group.
When not working at Union Park Elementary, Ms. Gee composes and arranges music for others along with teaching piano to young children and children with special needs. Becoming a part of the UPE staff has allowed Ms. Gee to pursue her two passions, music and teaching children.
